Jenny Usher is a Choreographer, Performer and Producer across many facets of the Performing Arts. She is the Director for her own company Candy Shop Show Australia for which she writes, directs and performs in original cabarets for regional touring: Up, Up & Away! (2018-2020), Sugar, Sugar! (2016-2020, and The Jazz Age Dance Cabaret (2015). Her shows have toured nationally to WA, NSW, QLD, SA & VIC and have featured at Anywhere Festivals Mackay/Sunshine Coast/Brisbane (2015-2017) and Adelaide Fringe Festival (2017-2018). She was also a performer in touring cabarets The Lounge Suite (2018) and Melly Melody: An Excellent Vintage Selection (2019).
As Choreographer, her Australian Musical Theatre credits include The Wizard of Oz (2017), The Boy From Oz (2013) and Chicago (2012), as Assistant Choreographer for Jesus Christ Superstar (2016), Assistant Choreographer/Dance Captain for The Producers (2011), Dance Captain in Miss Saigon (2010) and Ensemble for Guys & Dolls (2011).
In the UK she featured in Thoroughly Modern Millie (2009), The Fix (2009), I Heart Centre Stage – a Cabaret Variety Show (2007) and Crazy For You (2006). For BBC London she was involved in Jim’ll Fix It in their recreation of the Austin Powers Intro Scene for the Edinburgh Film and TV Festival (2007).
Jenny holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries in Dance from Queensland University of Technology & University of Leeds (exchange program) and Certificate IV in Musical Theatre & Commercial Dance from Davidia Lind Dance Centre.
Jenny is the owner of Flair Pilates. She holds her Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training with Body Arts and Science International (BASI) and is qualified to instruct on the reformer, cadillac/trapeze table, step barrel, ladder barrel, wunda chair, avalon system, tower, mat and many other smaller Pilates equipment (including the TRX.) Along with a passion for Contemporary Pilates for fitness, Jenny has worked alongside physiotherapists and osteopaths and is also experienced in teaching DMA Clinical Pilates for rehabilitation.
As a professional dancer Jenny has a strong affiliation with creatives, and through her association with Pondera Physio and Pilates she has taught Pilates to actors and office staff at Queensland Theatre Company & Brisbane Festival, musicians at Queensland Symphony Orchestra, dancers at the Queensland Ballet and Expressions Dance Company as well as many commercial touring productions.
Jenny is committed to continuing education and regularly attends workshops in a broad range of fields in order to make herself a better instructor. On a never ending quest for knowledge, Jenny is not only a dynamic teacher but also a passionate learner. She has experience working with pre and post-surgery clients, dancers, athletes, musicians, actors, pre and post-natal clients, the elderly, teenagers and everyday people.
