On this page you will find information for venues and presenters for the 2023 SPEAKEASY Regional Tour.

Candy Shop Show has been touring regional Australia with our unique cabarets since 2015 and we have been fortunate to delight thousands of audience members all over our great country, in all kinds of venues and spaces. Our productions pack neatly into suitcases and are therefore easily tourable, with no additional freight costs outside one or two extra bags. Generally the spaces we find our way into are Council operated funded venues, but we also love unique and intimate spaces which are not necessarily traditional 'theatres'.We operate on a buy-in basis and charge a fully-delivered fee, inclusive of all artist/company fees, flights, travel and other associated touring costs.

Haven’t you heard? It’s the Roaring 20’s again and you’re invited to sign our dance cards for a fabulous night of swing music, charleston and prohibition-style giggle water with the hotsy-totsy cast of SPEAKEASY!

The story centres around four friends in the 2020's musing about what it would be like to be a performer in a Speakeasy in the 1920s. You might learn a thing or two through hilarious anecdotes, stunning dance numbers and plenty of sass. SPEAKEASY is a journey through the jazz age when liquor was banned, jazz music was rife and dancing was all that mattered.

Featuring live vocals, beautiful harmonies and fabulous flappers set to an authentic soundtrack from artists like Glenn Miller, Fred Astaire, Duke Ellington + many, many more, this lively nod to the past will set your soul alight!

Matinee vs Evening Performance

Given its commercial appeal the production suits both Morning Melodies and Evening programming, making it an ideal choice for all regional venues. We encourage taking advantage of the two-show discount and booking a matinee and evening performance on the same or consecutive day.

75 minutes straight through (ideal for theatres). The production can also be adapted to run in one, two or three acts making it perfect for a dinner-show environment or a corporate function.

Technical Specifications

Full tech specs can be downloaded below, but in summary:

4 x wireless mics with stands

Suitable venue PA system with foldback

Projector & screen

Quick change area

Minimum stage space 4m x 4m (suitable floor for tap dancing)

Existing venue lighting rig/no set/small props

We love the use of anything else 'fun' the venue can provide (eg. haze machine, star cloth, disco ball etc - not essential however)

*For smaller venues, we are able to tour with mics, mixer & basic lighting - please contact us for info.

Buy-in fee

As a guide $3,500 - $4,500 is the normal price guide for one show in most regional areas, however this depends on many fluctuating factors including flight prices, car hire and petrol costs. For venues in South-East Queensland there are no flight costs but there may be car hire/travel costs. Fees will be negotiated with venues on a case by case basis.

An additional performance on the same day (or sometimes consecutive day if the tour permits) can be added for $2,000.

Workshops/Community Engagement/PR

The team are happy to engage with the community and are available to run workshops in a range of styles for kids, adults and seniors. Time permitting, media calls, radio interviews and other promotional activities are also available.
